Five discussion groups are meeting, each once a month to discuss what really matters: No Agenda Clubs in Turku (since 2003), Helsinki (since 2010) and Jyväskylä (since 2010), Leadership&ICT Forum in Turku (since 2005), and Health Forum in Turku (since 2010). They have in common a curiosity to open dialogue. This blog combines their findings. Turku, Helsinki and Jyväskylä are cities in Finland.

Forestopper's meditation

I'm walking in the forest, stop for a while under a big pine tree to do some slow taiji movements. Everything slows down... and stops. I'm just breathing and listening to my inner silence. I sense our planet inside me, suddenly it's small and I'm big. The planet is turning around, it feels funny in my stomach.

"Love. Now."

The planet is whispering to me, with every turn it repeats those words - Love. Now. I look down, somehow my eyes can look downwards through my throat, inside my body. My heart is pumping, and under it is our planet, circling around. I see Japan, Libya, Afganistan,... Europe, Asia, North and South America, Africa, Australia, the white poles with ice melting. I see it all, with one glance.

I look closer, I see people - in offices, schools, factories, homes, hospitals, libraries, barracks. I see the drama, created by an illusion of separateness. I see families, organizations and nations loosing track, getting lost, not fulfilling their potential.

We need to change.

How is that done? Eckhart Tolle says in his book Stillness speaks:
"When you receive whoever comes into the space of Now as a noble guest, when you allow each person to be as they are, they begin to change."
I wish I could do this in all my encounters - with family members, friends, relatives; and with clients, I feel this attitude is at the core of mindful coaching. Could you do this, to everyone you meet? Perhaps you're already mastering this skill...

I see us starting a change journey together, rising above the self-created drama - words like competition, stress, struggle, and effort are transforming into compassion, acceptance, collaboration, respect, trust, and joy. It's a long journey, I know - but doesn't it make you curious?

Love. Now. - So simple.
